Congratulations to Aoife Sutton who won this year’s Red, White & Blue Day Bookmark Competition. Aoife’s bookmark design is currently being created for her by a fabric designer. Our next winner, receiving 2nd prize is Scott McCartney. He will receive a £25 book token. Well done to all pupils who participated and congratulations to our winners.
The members of the Pupil Council would like to thank the Parent Council for the new playground equipment which arrived at the school today. We had great fun unpacking the box before handing over the contents to the Rights Respecting Committee. We are sure that everyone in the school will enjoy using the new equipment.
P6/7 had the delight of experiencing a ‘normal’ school day with a twist. We were invited along to go cruising on The Wooden Spoon canal boat to extend our learning in our Scottish Canals topic. Our skipper, Ronnie (Archie’s grandad), not only told us all about the history of the canal but he allowed us to have a shot at steering the boat and using the locks. On board, we followed our usual class time-table and completed writing, problem solving and art challenges.
The members of the Pupil Council would like to thank everyone who helped with the Children in Need fundraising morning on Friday 14th November. The magnificent sum of £288.62 was raised. Winners of the Torphichen ‘Bake Off” competition were Mathew and Kathryn Murphy with their treasure chest cake. Oskar de Joode was placed second and Kirsty and Laura Taylor took third place. The Guess Pudsey’s Birthday competition was won by Grace Samper.
