Thursday will be Mrs Arkley’s final day with us at Torphichen. Although already retired, Mrs Arkley stepped in to support the school through a very difficult staffing situation and has been a tremendous help. We wish her well as she returns to enjoy her retirement. Two of our Primary 1/2 pupils presented Mrs Arkley with a bouquet of flowers at assembly on Tuesday morning as a token of our thanks. Mrs Arkley will finish at Torphichen at lunchtime on Thursday.
Mrs Davies has been contracted as Admin Assistant on a temporary basis. This means the office will be staff throughout the school day.
P6/7 have been learning about different types of germs and bacteria. We are also learning the importance of washing our hands properly. We are carrying out an investigation with bread to see what happens with untouched and touched bread.
We welcomed Douglas McFadzean from West Lothian Council at the Parent Council meeting on Wednesday, 2nd November. He was able to share with us information and plans regarding the extension of the school building.
Fortunately, Douglas was able to leave the plans with us and we have displayed them in the cloakroom space in the dining hall. These will be available to view in this space from 8am – 9am every morning next week (7th – 11th November) and 3pm – 5pm, Monday to Thursday.
If you are keen to view the plans but are unable to make it at the above times, we would be happy to arrange a suitable time. Please contact the school office.
