After Miss McGeachy and Primary 3/4 St Andrew’s Day assembly, Primary 1/2 wrote acrostic poems on Scotland. Pupils did very well at using different sentence openers, as well as remembering the basic skills in writing, using full stops, capital letters and finger spaces.
We were able to get outdoors and enjoy a little sunshine to do our spelling words and practice writing our names. Primary 1 have been learning to sound out and blend consonant, vowel, consonant words, helping to read words such as pat, sat, pin, tin etc.
All pupils will be issued with a First Minister’s Reading Challenge Passport this term. These will stay in school, however please encourage your child to add any texts that they read at home to their passport. Each term classes will be set challenges to complete in class. This term all of the reading challenges have a Scottish focus.
Pupils have been learning about toys Then and Now. We completed Venn diagrams to show which toys were played with then and now. Pupils also made Peg Dolls just as children would have done in Victorian times.
