MacMillan Coffee Morning & Roald Dahl Day 2013
Thank you to everyone who attended our annual MacMillan Coffee Morning on Friday 27th September 2013. It was a HUGE success with an amazing £323 raised so far!!
As the coffee morning coincided with the Roald Dahl ‘Dahlicious’ Dress Up Day, we will split the money equally among the 2 charities.
Alfie Muir’s mum works for MacMillan Cancer Support and the P7 pupils will be inviting her in to share how the money raised will be spent.
Thank you again to everyone who donated cakes and to those who attended! This event helped to raise awareness of everyone right to medical care when they require it (UNCRC Article 24).
A huge thank you!
What an exciting assembly we had yesterday! Many parents will be aware of the ‘Sunflower Challenge’ that the school has been involved in connection with Rural Connect. Thanks to Ms Ferguson, our ECO group, a very helpful grandpa, Mrs Shiels and all the children for keeping a sunflower diary. It is with great pride I can inform you that Torphichen Primary grew the tallest sunflower in West Lothian.
We were presented with a plaque for the school and £300 donated by Dobbies to spend at their Garden Centre. We look forward to hearing what the pupils will suggest to spend our winnings on!

Sunflower Competition Winners!
Congratulations to all the pupils on being a part of the winning school for the Rural Connect Sunflower Competition 2013.
All pupils were responsible for caring for the sunflowers that we were given from Rural Connect at Oatridge College. Lauren’s Grandad, Rab, was our expert sunflower grower and he kept us right with what to feed the flowers and how to look after them. He even came in during the summer to continue to care for our sunflowers!
Last Tuesday, a team from Rural Connect came to measure our tallest sunflower and we were the winners with 2m 66cm! Tomorrow (Thursday 19th Sept) Russell and some others from Rural Connect are coming to our assembly to present our award – £300 Dobbies vouchers!! To see the other results please go to:

Everyone is more than welcome to attend at 2.30pm.
