Thank you to everyone who came along and supported the Big Breakfast on Friday morning. There was a brilliant turnout and it was wonderful seeing our school community enjoying a chat with each other. A perfect way to start the weekend.
Your donations raised £57.45 for the STV Appeal which we will be posting off this week.
Congratulations to our school ski team ‘A’ who came 4th out of 12 teams at the recent competition held at Hillend. This is a vast improvement on their 9th position last year!
There were some personal time improvements made for 3 boys in particular:
Fastest time last year
Martin 19.08 26.88
Marcus 20.45 25.48
Theo 22.55 24.14
We are so proud of our ski team and the improvements they continue to make at each race. Keep up the excellent work team!
Thank you also to the parents that support and help with the ski team. Without you, our pupils would not have this valuable sporting experience.
To extend their writing skills, P6 looked at examples of character descriptions written by Roald Dahl. They then identified what writing skills needed to be included: adjectives, adverbs and descriptive phrases.
Working in their register classes, they brainstormed ideas for their class novel character. From this, they were able to write an opening paragraph to describe the main character’s personality. They had to ensure they used their inferential skills to provide descriptions about the character.
P6 have been revisiting stratagems for spelling. We have been focusing on identifying the syllables within a word. Working with a partner, they had to use the musical instruments to sound out the syllables. It made for a very noisy classroom!
