FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT

Fairtrade Fortnight is soon approaching and The Global Group has been doing the rounds, gathering information on what goodies would popular to sell at this year’s Fairtrade Tuck Shop. We aim to hold our tuck shop from Monday 27th February to Friday 3rd March.
The votes are now in and we are in the process of ordering from Tradecraft. Our selection includes chocolate cake, cookies, yoghurt raisins, wafer bisuits and bananas. We are aware that this is not going to be a tuck shop reflecting our Healthy Schools ethos but we do hope that we are encouraging fair trading around our world.
We will give more information on our Fairtrade Fortnight activities soon.fairtrade-can-i-can-panel-image

We had our Save Paper march around our school today. We have set the pupils and the staff some challenges to try to use less paper and save our trees.
Some of the slogans we shouted included:
“What do we want? SAVE OUR TREES! When do we want it? NOW!!”;
“When there’s no more TREES, there’s no more US!”;
“Save our rainforests! RECYCLE PAPER!”

We hope we are encouraging our community to think about the amount of paper we waste.

Please look out for more facts and information coming soon on our blog page.

Recycling Paper

We had a visitor from West Lothian Council’s Recycling department. Joanne taught us how to recycle our own paper which was a great thing to learn. As part of our topic this term, the class want to organise a ‘Save Paper Campaign.’ As a part of this learning, the P3/4 pupils are going to teach the rest of the school how to recycle paper. We hope that this will encourage pupils to take more care when using paper. We also participated in making our own paper planters for the school garden and researched how saving paper can save trees and can also save wildlife! We hope you liked the goodie bag that the pupils in the class received.
We are looking forward to Joanne coming back to visit us again next Wednesday morning.
