Primary Seven: Snow day activities

Hello everyone!

I am sure you are all having a super day outside in the snow!
Here are a few ideas to keep you busy:

Science:
You could perhaps take this time to research some more energy saving tips for your pamphlet! Walk around your house …can you spot anything that you could improve on to help save energy? I hope those computers aren’t on standby! Take a note of any more ideas that you think of!

Language:
Write an acrostic poem about the snow. You could use the following words down the side of your page:

SNOWY DAY
WINTER
SNOWMAN
SNOWBALL
SCHOOL IS CLOSED
WHERE IS THE SUN?

Or write an imaginative story-with a wintery setting!
Make it as descriptive as you can with awesome alliteration (freezing fingers), similes (as cold as ice) and metaphors (My bedroom was a fridge). Don’t forget to think about VCOP too.

A Crafty idea:
Make a decorative ‘Ice Bowl’ – fill a bowl with water and add leaves, slices of fruit, sparkly sequins and buttons.
Place in the freezer or outside if it is cold enough and wait for your Ice Bowl to form.
Tip it out when frozen and take a photograph of it and bring it in to school!

Hopefully, I will see you all tomorrow!

Snow day!

Hi Primary 4/5,

Hope you are all having a great time out in the snow! There is certainly plenty of it in Stoneyburn to enjoy! I found that out this morning when I came and there was nobody there!! Mr McKay helped me back out of the car park,!

If your bored already of playing, why not try and make some shapes outside and try and split them into fractions? Halves should be easy, but how many parts can you split your shape into? Remember to be a fraction all parts MUST be the same size! Draw your shapes so you can show me tomorrow.

Remember the snow pack you got in December, its got lots for you to do there. If you can’t find that, find the old posts on this blog, it’s there, maybe an adult can help you if you can’t find it! Have fun!! Hopefully see you tomorrow!

Primary 3/2 Snow Day

Good morning everyone! Hope you are all enjoying our unexpected snow day!

If you are missing school already then remember you were given a winter weather workbook way back in December. If you can’t find your paper copy, you can get an adult to help you look back to the December part of this blog and you can find a link to them all there. (I’ve checked and they’re all still there!)

You should also have your spelling words at home. Why not have a go at writing your spelling words in the snow? We’ll be playing connect 4 with our spelling words on Friday so having this extra time to learn them is great!!

Have fun, stay safe and hopefully see you all tomorrow 🙂

Primary 3/4 Snow Day

Dear all in Primary 3/4.

Remember that on Monday we will be visiting Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow. If you are in need of something to do this snow day, make up a list of 10 rules that you think we should follow safely on the bus and in the musuem on Monday. Bring them into school and we will spend some time this week discussing them so that everyone in the class knows what is expected of them. I would really appreciate your input.

Mr Mackie.

Keeping in touch with the P7 campers

The primary seven children at Barcaple have been excellent at keeping in touch!! We have had lots of informative e-mails to read in class.
Today we also used our new I-pads to Facetime the primary seven puipls at camp!It was great to speak to them and we are looking forward to seeing them again this afternoon!

Barcaple day 3

We are having a fantastic time here at Barcaple.

The activities are super ! We have been crate building which means working in a harness with a partner and seeing how many crates you can stand on before you topple off. The mountain biking is off site and you have to go there in a minibus with a trailer. The course is a lot of fun. When you do Conservation work you have to work with secateurs or a little saw and cut down an invasive plant ….the rhododendron. Then you get to shelter build in a small wooded area.AFter that you drink hot black currant juice using water boiled in a Eco kettle over a little fire….that is so much fun.

Food is tasty and there is lots of it….breakfast can be bacon and hash browns, lunch is a roll with crisps and usually awake or biscuit. Tea has been chicken potatoes and corn followed by chocolate pudding…
