P5 Hockey Skills

This term as part of our P.E lessons, we are learning about Hockey.  Today we learned the correct way to hold a hockey stick and played some games to practise our stick handling skills.  One of our favourites was called ‘Squeeze Ball’, where we had to work with a partner to ‘squeeze’ the ball between our sticks and lift if off the ground to waist height – we soon discovered that it wasn’t as easy as it sounded!!

P5 Peasant Houses

We have started our topic about Mary Queen of Scots.  To give us some insight into what life was like when she was alive, we have been finding out about clothes, housing and transport in the 16th Century.

We did a Critical Skills Challenge in groups to build a 3D model of a Peasant’s house from the 16th Century.  We had to combine what we had been learning in our topic with the technology skills we had been learning about – strengthening techniques in model-making.

Trim Trail

We would like to thank everyone that helped to raise money for our new, fun Trim Trail.  Special thanks to the SOC-IT group for their contribution.

The Trim Trail now has a rota system in use for all the classes and everyone has been enjoying it at break and lunch times.

P5-7 Stage Transition Days

Next Wednesday Primary 5, 6 and 7 pupils will once again have the opportunity to work with pupils from our partner school – Greenrigg Primary.

P5 – will be doing more work on healthy eating

P6 – will be going a trip to The Riverside Museum in Glasgow

P7 – will be going to Polkemmet Country Park
