On Wednesday 20th April pupils from Primary 5,6 & 7 from both Stoneyburn and Greenrigg Primary Schools met together to work with a new resource in school called IZAK9.
They worked on a number of different challenges that were set for them as well as creating their own challenges for the other groups working in the room. This was many childrens’ favourite part of they day. After looking at a video on Growth Mindset and discussing how important it is to have a positive attitude towards challenges, the children all rose to the occasion- successfully completing many challenges including the final challenge…..packing up the cube in such a way that a completed shape was fully visible on each face before putting it back in to the box! Not an easy task!
Children spent the whole day working brilliantly with one another, challenging and supporting each other and discussing and sharing strategies that could be used to solve the problems they had been set.
If you would like to watch the Growth Mindset video we looked at, you can follow this link.
Here are some photographs of the day – you can see just how much we enjoyed ourselves!
We are all looking forward to using IZAK9 again in school and to problem solving tasks in the future. We can do this!
