Primary 6/7 have been learning about Scottish History through their Highland Clearances topic.
As part of their learning about living conditions, pupils worked in groups through a Critical Skills Challenge to make a replica “Blackhouse”. They had to discuss a list of criteria for the interior and exterior of the house and make decisions as a group. This helped to build on their talking and listening skills as well as maths and art skills.
Groups then designed a family (with at least 3 generations) to live in the house. The family were made into puppets which were used to act out a drama scene to show what life was like in 1800.
