Address To A Haggis

Over the last couple of weeks we have been studying some of the work of Robert Burns.  After reading his poem, ‘Address To A Haggis’, we made an attempt at our own versions – can you spot the similes and alliteration?

Oh Haggis you taste so good,

No matter where you are, I have a look,

After I eat you I feel so full,

A righteous rift errupts, so cruel!

You melt in my mouth ever so quickly,

Warm and oaty, cut so thickly,

You’ll always make my taste buds cripple,

And you make my tongue crimple!

Haggis, haggis, you taste so good,

You’ll always be my best food,

Heavenly haggis with the touch of glory,

Made from the guts that look so gory!

You’re very very smooth,

And you don’t even move,

You make me so hungry, I don’t know how,

Gie me a haggis, right now!

(By Cole, P7)

Oh, heavenly haggis,

How ye bulge like a bicep,

Sitting perfectly on the platter,

You truly are shaped like a piece of heaven.

Oh, when yer rapidly ripped open,

I can see your fluffy insides fall oot,

Then I put ye in ma mouth,

And, oh, ye taste just great!

You’re so soft and tender,

And why you’re put down by others,

I truly don’t know,

As you’re truly scrumptious to me!

After I’ve eaten ye,

I have a hearty haggis burp,

And think how gid ye were,

When I was eating ye up!

Racket Ball

We have had the benefit of an experienced Racket Ball coach this week who has delivered a taster session to our class.  We learned what Racket Ball is and were introduced to some of the basic skills.  Have a look at some of us in action:

Next week, we will have the opportunity to play some games!

Christmas Concert

Just a quick reminder that it’s our Christmas Concert tomorrow afternoon and Wednesday night.  The dress rehearsal this afternoon went very well and I’m sure your audience are really looking forward to cheering you on and listening to some fantastic festive treats!

Cinderella Panto

Our Christmas pantomime trip is tomorrow!!  Please make sure that you arrive at school on time as we will be leaving sharp.  You are allowed to bring a snack with you for the interval (no fizzy drinks please) but please be sensible – don’t stuff your faces as you’ll be travelling on a bus shortly afterwards and we don’t want anyone being sick!

Remember to bring a packed lunch with you as no school dinners will be available except for those entitled to free school meals.

Hope you’re all looking forward to it!

Beadazzled Profit

We have now counted all the money we took at the Christmas Fayre and deducted all our set up costs from it to calculate our total profit, which currently stands at £103.12.

We still have stock left so if anyone would like to purchase more or didn’t manage to the Christmas Fayre, speak to one of the P7’s or contact the school.

Thanks to everyone who supported our company and our school, we all had great fun!

Olympic Dances

This term in P.E we have been focussing on ‘Dance’.  With the Olympics being held in London in the summer, we used ‘Olympic Sports’ as our theme.

After being taught some new terms (pivots, turns, direction, level, pathway and unison) we split into groups and were asked to choreograph our own dance sequence which demonstrated our understanding of all of these terms.  Firstly, we were asked to select an Olympic sport, then we had to think of the main movements involved in that sport and finally we had to link these movement together to form a sequence.

Beadazzled Update

We have been really busy preparing for the Christmas Enterprise Sale.  We have distributed our leaflets and put up our posters to help advertise our company.  We have also continued to make more of our products and have designed and made some boards to display them on the stall.  Have a look at us in action:

Football Festival

Last month we teamed up with the P7’s from Our Lady’s Primary and attended a football festival, which was run by Hearts Football Club.  The session was led by high school pupils who were training for their coaching qualification.

We have now been sent the team photo taken on the day:
