A Heartfelt Thank You!

I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all the parents and children who contributed towards the gifts I was presented with at the Leavers’ Assembly today – it was extremely generous and most unexpected.  The flowers are taking pride of place in my living room so that I can admire them every day (Kai likes them too – he calls them ‘mummy’s trees!!!’)

I must admit that on opening the card, I was totally overwhelmed and shed a tear at all the lovely comments from the children.  I’ve had a lovely year and wish each and every one of you the very best of luck for a successful future.  Please pop in from time to time to let me know how you’re all getting on.

Thanks again for your kindness and generosity – it really was a touching moment!

Olympic Training

As part of our project on the Olympics, we were asked to train the rest of the school in preparation for Sports Day.  We had to make up a training schedule for each event which would improve the performance of others. We had to be able to prove that their performance had improved under our leadership.  We had great fun doing this and were able to analyse the results of our training sessions when we returned to class.  Here are some pictures of the training sessions:

Mascot Mayhem!

We were set a challenge to design and make an Olympic mascot which relects the area that we live in.  We had to combine our knowledge of the history of our local area (from our project at the beginning of the year) with our knowledge of Olympic mascots and work in groups to produce an annotated sketch and a model mascot.  Have a look at what we came up with:

Technology Games Challenge

After exploring the various pieces of control technology that we have in school, we were challenged to create a game which incorporated one of them.  We had great fun programming the traffic lights to work in sequence and lighting up the facial features of the clown – take at look for yourself:

Scientific Circuits

As part of our Science Project on ‘Electricity & Waves’, we have been investigating electrical circuits.  We can now: name the common electrical components used in circuits; build series and parallel circuits and explain the difference between them; draw circuits diagrams to represent the circuits we have built and describe the transfer of energy around the circuit.
