 <\/p>\n

We have had such an exciting week that we cannot wait to share it with you all!<\/p>\n

Our classrooms are looking all Christmassy! We have Christmas trees, decorations and lots of beautiful sparkly and colourful lights.\u00a0 We also have a new addition to each of our classes, little elves !We arrived to school on Wednesday to find letters and our little elves in our classes.\u00a0 The letters asked us to name the elves so we put on our thinking caps and voted.\u00a0 The most popular name in P1a was Cookie.\u00a0 In P1b the little elf was named Snowy and in P1c the elf’s name is Fred.\u00a0 Our new friends are kindness elves and have been sent to us because they heard that all of the boys and girls in Primary 1 are soooo kind.\u00a0 We are so excited to have these little elves in our classes and can’t wait to spread kindness and happiness with them.<\/p>\n

Talking about Christmas we have been so busy working on our Nativity.\u00a0 It is coming along nicely and will be ready in the next few weeks to share with you all.<\/p>\n

Literacy<\/p>\n

In literacy we learnt three more sounds this week, ‘sh’, ‘ch’ and ‘x’. We learnt how to recognise, say and read and write words with each of these sounds.\u00a0 We also listened to a story about a fox and rewrote it.\u00a0 Our writing is getting better and better each week\u00a0 as we are becoming more confident writing words all by ourselves!\u00a0 We are enjoying reading too.\u00a0 We use our pointer fingers to point to each word when we read it.\u00a0 We really enjoy reading little ditties and all about Kipper and Floppy.<\/p>\n

Numeracy<\/p>\n

In numeracy we have continued working with coins, counting amounts and playing with real coins.\u00a0 We know that it is really important to learn about money as we will use money to pay for things when we are older.\u00a0 We have also learnt a new song about subitising.\u00a0 We thought that this was a funny word!\u00a0 It means to be able to recognise amounts really quickly, for example if we hold up one of our hands we know that we are showing a 5.\u00a0 We don’t need to count !<\/p>\n

Topic<\/p>\n

We made lovely little owl pictures based on the story that we read last week, ‘Owl Babies’.\u00a0 We also learn more about foxes as these too are nocturnal animals.\u00a0 Mrs Mac spotted one just the other night there in her street!<\/p>\n
