{"id":18313,"date":"2019-02-15T11:59:41","date_gmt":"2019-02-15T11:59:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/StNicholasPrimarySchool\/?p=18313"},"modified":"2019-02-15T11:59:41","modified_gmt":"2019-02-15T11:59:41","slug":"p4bs-fantastic-fortnight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/StNicholasPrimarySchool\/2019\/02\/15\/p4bs-fantastic-fortnight\/","title":{"rendered":"P4b&#8217;s Fantastic Fortnight !"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/sjacksonwej.edublogs.org\/files\/2016\/05\/busy-bees-1b4gzgx.png\" alt=\"Image result for busy bees\" width=\"301\" height=\"142\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">We have been very these last two weeks!<\/p>\n<p>In literacy we have continued to brush up on our grammar skills.\u00a0 We have become very competent at identifying adverbs, verbs, nouns, adjectives and homophones.\u00a0 We also had fun with alliteration. In reading we have been making good progress with our chapter books.\u00a0 Some of us are reading a book that has been written by Chris Hoy, &#8216;Flying Fergus&#8217;. Chris Hoy is actually one of the famous Scots that we have learnt about , however, we did not know that he had written a book !\u00a0 We have also read lots of texts and completed reading comprehensions which have focussed on inference which some of us have found challenging, however, we know that these will become easier the more we practise.<\/p>\n<p>In numeracy, we have moved on from fractions and are now learning how to tell the time using all of the numbers on the clock.\u00a0 We have used lots of interactive games to help us with this.\u00a0 Our favourite one is called, &#8216;Beat the Clock&#8217;.\u00a0 You have to read the time sentence and press the buzzer to stop the big hand and make sure that it is in the correct place.\u00a0 It is great fun !<\/p>\n<p>Our topic, &#8216;Famous Scots&#8217; has almost come to an end which is a shame because we have really enjoyed it.\u00a0 We are in the middle of making a HUGE poster which will showcase our learning.\u00a0 We will post pictures as soon as we have finished them.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday was very exciting because Archbishop Cushley visited us.\u00a0 He gave us a special blessing and spoke to us about our First Communion.\u00a0 It was lovely to meet him.\u00a0 As part of our learning, we have also studied the life of Saint Margaret.\u00a0 She was a special queen and led by example.<\/p>\n<p>The last few Fridays have also been fun as Mrs Curle from NYCOS has been in to teach us about rhythms and beats in music.\u00a0 We have learnt some great songs including: &#8216;I Like Coffee&#8217;\u00a0 &#8216;Starlight&#8217; and &#8216;Lemonade&#8217; and now know one beat in music is called &#8216;TA&#8217; and two beats are called &#8216;TE TE&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">What have we enjoyed the most ?<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I have enjoyed learning about what all the numbers mean on a clock&#8217; &#8211; Freyja.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I have liked doing my times tables in maths this week&#8217; &#8211; Holly.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I have enjoyed making my poster\u00a0 because it has been really interesting researching people&#8217;. &#8211; Cameron.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I have enjoyed learning using the computers&#8217; &#8211; Lucas L.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We have been very these last two weeks!
