Since returning from the summer holidays we have been very busy. We have been learning about shale mining in Broxburn and we looked at the Burngrange mining disaster.<\/p>\n
Max – the Burngrange disaster happened 71 years ago.<\/p>\n
Lucas – the disaster happened in West Calder<\/p>\n
Mirin – 15 men lost their lives.<\/p>\n
Daniel – one of the men died at the exit to the mine.<\/p>\n
Connor – 2 of the men were brothers.<\/p>\n
Paula – a giant explosion and fire caused the disaster and parts of the mine to collapse.<\/p>\n
We have learned lots of information and created art work, job adverts, PowerPoints, mind maps and newspaper reports all about shale mining and the disaster.<\/p>\n
We are now going to be learning about natural disaster. \u00a0We can\u2019t wait!<\/p>\n
