First of all we placed one candy cane in a cup of cold water. We made a <strong>hypothesis<\/strong> regarding what would happen within 5 minutes and\u00a0recorded our <strong>observations<\/strong> during that time frame. We repeated the experiment using warm water and then again using oil. We were interested to find out if our predictions would be correct. Then we watched a short clip showing the manufacture of a candy cane. Finally we were then able to draw our <strong>conclusions<\/strong> based on the information about the ingredients as to why the candy cane dissolved in water.<\/p>\n<p>Several children were keen to repeat this experiment at home using different solutions such as milk, fizzy juice, vinegar and fruit juice.
