<strong>UPDATE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For all Sacraments, children should be domiciled in the Parish or attend St. Barbara\u2019s Parish on a regular basis.\u00a0 Dates for 2022-23 are set.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sacrament of Reconciliation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All children looking to make the Sacrament of Reconciliation must be Baptised.\u00a0 Parents will be required to complete an Enrolment form for their child.\u00a0 This form will have a similar declaration to the Baptismal registration form &#8211; \u201c<strong>I confirm that I will bring my child up in the Catholic faith and bring them along to Sunday Mass\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When completing the enrolment form a copy of the child\u2019s baptism certificate or an extract from the baptismal register of the parish in which the child was baptised must be exhibited.\u00a0 For children baptised in St. Barbara\u2019s parish, this will not be necessary as we will hold confirmation in our own records.<\/p>\n<p>It is important to note that no children will be put forward for the Sacrament of Reconciliation until they have been baptised and met the requirements for Baptism.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation<\/strong> &#8211; Children in St. Joseph\u2019s and St. Anthony\u2019s primary schools will be prepared for the Sacrament via the school.\u00a0 For children in non-denominational schools, the Parish Priest will allocate a Catechist for the preparation of the child.\u00a0 Pupils\/children will not be put forward for the Sacrament until they have been fully prepared.<\/p>\n<p>Children in course of preparation for the Sacrament will require to attend the Rite of Illumination and the Signing of the Cross \u2013 both Rites will take place during the Sunday Mass.<\/p>\n<p>Children in course of preparation for the Sacrament will require to attend mass each Sunday.\u00a0 If the child does not attend Sunday Mass then they will not be put forward for the Sacrament.\u00a0 Exceptional circumstances where the child is not able to attend Mass on a regular basis will be considered by the Parish Priest.<\/p>\n<p>Parents will be required to attend the preparation of the child\u2019s Sacrament meeting(s).<\/p>\n<p><strong>The dates are as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>First confession;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enrolment meeting for parents \u2013 Wednesday 19<sup>th<\/sup> October 2022 at 7pm<\/li>\n<li>Rite of Illumination \u2013 Sunday Mass 6<sup>th<\/sup> November 2022.<\/li>\n<li>Parents meeting 11<sup>th<\/sup> January 2023 at 7pm.<\/li>\n<li>Rite of the Cross Sunday Mass 22<sup>nd<\/sup> January 2023.<\/li>\n<li>First Confession &amp; Parent\u2019s confession \u2013 22<sup>nd<\/sup> March 2023 at St. Joseph\u2019s, Whitburn at 6.30pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>First Holy Communion.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Children being put forward for their First Holy Communion must be Baptised and have completed their Sacrament of Reconciliation.\u00a0 Parents will be required to complete an enrolment form for their child.\u00a0 This form will have a similar declaration to the Baptismal registration form &#8211; St. Anthony\u2019s children Saturday 10<sup>th<\/sup> June 2023 at 10am in Whitburn.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Sacrament of Confirmation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is normally administered by the Archbishop and will take place on 11<sup>th<\/sup> May 2023 at 7pm in St. Joseph\u2019s Church, Whitburn.\u00a0 The Sacrament normally is administered when the child is in primary 7.<\/p>\n<p>Children being put forward for the Sacrament must be Baptised, Completed their Sacrament of Reconciliation and made their first Holy Communion.<\/p>\n<p>Parents will be required to complete an enrolment form for their child.\u00a0 This form will have a similar declaration to the Baptismal registration form &#8211; \u201c<strong>I confirm that I will bring my child up in the Catholic faith and bring them along to Sunday Mass\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When completing the enrolment form a copy of the child\u2019s baptism certificate or an extract from the baptismal register of the parish in which the child was baptised must be exhibited.\u00a0 For children baptised in St. Barbara\u2019s parish, this will not be necessary as we will hold confirmation in our own records.\u00a0 The parish where the child has been Baptised will be notified of their Confirmation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparation for the child\u2019s Sacrament of Confirmation<\/strong> &#8211; Children in St. Joseph\u2019s and St. Anthony\u2019s primary schools will be prepared for the Sacrament via the school.\u00a0 For children in non-denominational schools, the Parish Priest will allocate a Catechist for the preparation of the child.\u00a0 The child will not be put forward for the Sacrament until they have been fully prepared.<\/p>\n<p>Children in course of preparation for the Sacrament, as an obligation, will require to attend mass each Sunday.\u00a0 Parents will be required to attend the preparation of the child\u2019s Sacrament meeting(s).<\/p>\n<p><strong>The dates are as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sacrament of Confirmation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Will take place in St. Joseph\u2019s Church Whitburn for both schools on 11<sup>th<\/sup> May 2023 at 7pm. \u00a0\u00a0Sponsors must be a practising Catholic.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">We have just received an email from the Archbishop\u2019s secretary advising us that the Confirmations in 2023 will be on <strong>Thursday 15<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0June 2023 at 7pm<\/strong> in St. Joseph\u2019s Church Whitburn, as he has to attend a meeting on the previously agreed date.\u00a0\u00a0 We apologise for the inconvenience caused in this change. (13\/10\/2022)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\"> <strong>UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sacramental Preparation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All parent\u2019s meetings will take place in St. Joseph\u2019s Church, Whitburn as we have no access to the Church in Armadale.\u00a0 The various Rites will take place at the Sunday Masses. The Mass in St Joseph\u2019s Church takes place at 10.00 am.
