Dear Parents\/Carers<\/strong><\/p>\n

The annual West Lothian Schools Area Swimming Heats 2019 will take place on, Sunday 10th<\/sup> November 2019 at Deans Community High School, Livingston.<\/strong><\/p>\n

If your child is a Club swimmer and would like to enter the West Lothian Swimming Trials then please inform the school by Friday, 27th<\/sup> September, providing the following information;<\/strong><\/p>\n

Child\u2019s Name<\/u><\/p>\n

Class and stage<\/u><\/p>\n

Date of Birth<\/u><\/p>\n

Consideration Times.<\/u><\/p>\n

Events Entered<\/u><\/p>\n

Please refer to the attached copies of the events programme and qualifying times guide before considering.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Information from Active Schools<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Meet will run over two sessions; session 1 – warm up 9.15 start 10.00 and session 2 – warm up 13.00 starts 13.45.<\/p>\n

As these act as the qualifying heats for the 2019 Scottish Schools Swimming Championships to be held in January 2019(TBC), the entry age for swimmers will be calculated as at the 31st<\/sup> December 2020<\/u>. <\/strong>This means that, a swimmer born in 2005 is classed as 15 years old not 14 years and will therefore swim in the 15\/16 years age category at the heats.<\/p>\n

Once again, the Scottish School\u2019s sponsor, Brodies Solicitors, will provide medals for 1st<\/sup>, 2nd<\/sup> and 3rd<\/sup> places.<\/p>\n

In order to comply with time constraints and Health & Safety requirements, it will be necessary to limit the number of competitors in each event. To enable this to be done fairly, there are consideration times<\/u><\/strong> for this event and therefore entry times must be submitted with entries.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Entries:<\/strong><\/p>\n

12 and under swimmers may enter a maximum of two events.<\/strong><\/p>\n

13 and over swimmers may enter a maximum of four events, two of which MUST be 200m or over. \u00a0Swimmers can only enter a maximum of two 100m events.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The first three swimmers from each event will be put forward to the Scottish Schools finals as long as they have achieved the qualifying time.\u00a0 Unfortunately, this does not always guarantee them a swim at the finals as three swimmers from all areas in Scotland are put forward and only the fastest 12 are selected (fastest 6 in open events and 17\/19 age group<\/em>).\u00a0 Information on finalists will be relayed to the schools as soon as possible.\u00a0 Swimmers will be asked to select entry for final. Entry forms should be completed before leaving the meet.<\/p>\n

Please note:\u00a0 There will be a Boys and Girls 12 & under relay events this year <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
