Dear Parent\/Carer,<\/p>\n

As part of our work to promote a reading culture a number of events will be taking place this term. We are excited to announce that we have been chosen to launch The Sun newspaper Books for Schools Campaign.\u00a0 The reading bus will be with us on 2nd November from 9.30 am.\u00a0 It will be parked in front of the the main office.\u00a0 Pupils will be able to go on the bus to work with a storyteller.<\/p>\n

Photographs will be taken in the school and we will be in the Scottish Sun newspaper on the 3rd of November.<\/p>\n

We will be collecting tokens from the Scottish Sun Books for School campaign and will be able to use them to purchase\u00a0 books for our new Library.<\/p>\n

Following the great success of The Big Spooky Read last year, we invite parents and family members to come to the school with their children at 8.30 am – 9.00 am wearing Hallowe’en costumes and share a book with their children.\u00a0 \u00a0This year it will be held in the hall to allow parents to share a story with all of their children at once.\u00a0 Books will be available in the school or you can bring a favourite one from home.<\/p>\n

New Library<\/p>\n

As part of developing our reading culture we are setting up the spare room as a library.\u00a0 The existing room is too small. Each classroom has an Imagination Station\u00a0 and will have their door decorated inspired by a class novel.<\/p>\n

New reading materials, non-fiction books and professional library resources will be available in the Library.<\/p>\n

Scholastic Book club will take place in the spare room.\u00a0 \u00a0It will arrive on the 9th, be here for parents’ night and stay until the 12th of October.\u00a0 Class visits will be timetabled to allow pupils to browse.\u00a0 \u00a0Order slips will be in the room to allow pupils to record the title and cost of their choice and take the slip home.<\/p>\n

Information about the Hallowe’en parties will be shared after the Parent Council Meeting on Wednesday 3rd October.<\/p>\n
