This Week in P7/6

This week in P7/6 we:

  • Learned about rationing during World War Two and how our modern day diet differs to that of the early 1940’s.
  • Wrote the final draft of our evacuee letters.
  • Discussed clothing in French and designed our own piece.
  • Looked at various strategies for addition in Numeracy.
  • Played the Shannon Switching Game in Maths, looking to find a winning strategy and to identify if one of the players had an advantage over the other.

Have a great weekend!

Mrs Lauder.

This week and last in P7/6

Nadia: ‘We learned about vegetables in French and did comprehension tasks on our book, ‘The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas.’ We also did plenty of maths and literacy. We marked our writing, read lots and met our buddies!’

Evie: ‘We have done lots of decimals in maths, literacy and reading our books. We wrote letters as evacuees to our parents.’

Ollie: ‘We looked at the story of St Therese of Lisieux and looked at tenths, hundredths and thousandths in maths.’

P7/6 also learned of the story of Jesus healing the paralysed man and learned our first couple of basic steps in our 1940’s style jive dance.

Have a great weekend!

Mrs Lauder.

Please find attached final details regarding P6 Camp to Barcaple

Dear parents and carers

It’s an exciting time here in school as we make our final preparations for P6 camp.  I would like to remind everyone of the arrangements.

The bus will leave school at 9.00am on Monday 20th May and return on the 22nd May for 3.30/4.00pm.  This time is approximate and will very much depend on traffic. We will keep you updated by ‘Group call’ if there are any issues, please make sure Mrs O’Shaughnessy has a note of your current contact details.

Please bring warm and waterproof clothing, old clothes, old trainers/sturdy footwear, towel, wellies and a black bag for any laundry!  A packed lunch and snack will be required for Monday’s travel.

Your child will not need much spending money as there is only a small shop for tuck and stationary items. The maximum any child should bring is £5.00

Please leave all electronic devices at home, including mobile phones.  For the purpose of photographs, we recommend a disposable camera.  Staff will give you regular updates with photographs via the school blog and twitter.

We already have your completed EE2 form.  If your child is going to need medicine of any kind when they are away, please request a form from the office, complete this form and bring to school in a plastic bag clearly marked with your child’s on the day of departure, and hand to a member of staff for safe keeping.  If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to call the school office.

Thanks you again for your support and co-operation

Mrs F Burns

Parent Council – EGM

Hi all,

The Parent Council will be hosting an EGM on Monday 3rd June at 7pm which will be held in St Joseph’s Chapel Hall.

This is to vote in a new Chairperson and Secretary to allow the Parent Council to move forward and continue to support the school in a positive manner.  If anyone is interested in either post email and we will forward on details of responsibilities.  There will be some paper copies on the night as well.

The voting will take place at the meeting after nominations have been received.  Please ensure you speak to the person before nominating them.  You are also welcome to put yourself forward for the posts.  We require these posts to be filled to ensure a parent council can carry on.

Everyone is welcome to this meeting.  This is your Parent Council, therefore, as well as filling these posts we want to hear any suggestions or questions you have.

We hope to see you all there.
