P6F World Book Day

What a busy day P6F had today. We arrived in our pyjamas with our favourite books and took part in lots of fun, book related, activities.

One of our tasks was to complete a book related crossword. Our phones came in handy when looking for some of the answers!

This afternoon, we had several very well behaved visitors from P1. Natalia brought in a Polish/English book from home and read it to our young visitors. The rest of P6 also enjoyed hearing the story. Well done!

We also went on a scavenger hunt to find book references. The library turned out to be a very good place to look. Great teamwork from everyone today 👍

A few of other activities included;

  • Designing a mask of our favourite character from a book (winners to be announced during tomorrow’s assembly)
  • Making a bookmark
  • Taking part in the BBC Live lesson

What a fun day! 🙂

Dear parents and carers

It’s an exciting time here in school as we make our final preparations for P6 camp.  I would like to remind everyone of the arrangements.

The bus will leave school at 9.00am on Monday 20th May and return on the 22nd May for 3.30/4.00pm.  This time is approximate and will very much depend on traffic. We will keep you updated by ‘Group call’ if there are any issues, please make sure Mrs O’Shaughnessy has a note of your current contact details.

Please bring warm and waterproof clothing, old clothes, old trainers/sturdy footwear, towel, wellies and a black bag for any laundry!  A packed lunch and snack will be required for Monday’s travel.

Your child will not need much spending money as there is only a small shop for tuck and stationary items. The maximum any child should bring is £5.00

Please leave all electronic devices at home, including mobile phones.  For the purpose of photographs, we recommend a disposable camera.  Staff will give you regular updates with photographs via the school blog and twitter.

We already have your completed EE2 form.  If your child is going to need medicine of any kind when they are away, please request a form from the office, complete this form and bring to school in a plastic bag clearly marked with your child’s on the day of departure, and hand to a member of staff for safe keeping.  If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to call the school office.

Thanks you again for your support and co-operation

Two of our pupils excelled Lucy came first out of all the girls and Joel came third out of all the boys! Both now qualify for next years West Lothian Cross Country in P7 – so keep up the training!

Math Week Challenge Primary 6

The challenge began by exploring Tessellating Patterns and discovering that they could be made by one or more shapes creating a regular pattern. Then to try to recreate this in your group using the materials provided. An additional challenge was given in the last 5 minutes to see if each group could create a tall structure! Well done Primary 6 some great team work was obvious.
