School Closure

Hello Primary Five!

Hope you are all safe and warm today.

Just to remind you that you can see the Pope’s Inauguration Mass and coverage from Vatican City on television this morning.

Don’t forget, you can find lots of educational activities on our Primary Five Blog Page.

Keep safe.

From Mrs Brunton. 🙂

Primary 6 Class Trip

Mrs Traynor and Primary 6 were all disappointed today to learn that their class trip had to be postponed due to the forecast of extremely bad weather for Monday night and Tuesday.

However, we all agreed that safety must come first and we are looking forward to going on our trip after the Easter holidays. Given that Mrs Traynor is now practically snowed in, this was definitely the right decision!

Primary 6 are now hoping they can sledge tomorrow instead…

Personal safety

We have been listening to stories during our work on the topic ‘Once Upon a Time’. Our recent stories have been about Red Riding Hood and Hansel and Gretel and we have discussed our personal safety and what to do if we find ourselves lost. As part of our science work we had a presentation from a representative of Powerwise. The children learned all about keeping safe from electrical dangers. They were very knowledgable about the hazards in the home. All of the children dressed up as a book character for World Book  Day and enjoyed showing off their costumes and talking about their favourite book.

Primary 1L learning log

This has been a very exciting week for Primary 1L, the dragon delivered us some materials to make puppets. We have been using them to make puppet shows.Miss Laing will put the videos on pupil shared so that everyone can watch them.

Maths: We have been learning kung- fu maths! yah! We used our understanding of addition to 10 to help us. We have also been learning how to sort objects by shape, size and colour.

We have been reading the story of the Gingerbread man and love how cheeky he is. We enjoyed sequencing instructions for making a gingerbread man. Yum yum!

Primary 4  week ending 15th March

This week primary 4 boys and girls have been writing stories using their imagination.

They have been drawing miners using shading with pencils.

Using ICT  typing  letters to their world book day characters.

Cricket Style!

This week Primary Five have enjoyed all the opportunities that they have had to develop their cricket skills. We have had three coaching sessions led by sports leaders at the local community centre over the past three Tuesdays. We have practiced ourskills and played games of cricket with the rest of the class. On Thursday we attended the cricket festival at Whitburn Community centre. When we got there, we were placed in different teams mixed with pupils from four other schools. We participated in seven different stations which were led by sports leaders from the local high school. We had a fantastic time and learned so much. We would like to thank Mr Masters the sports development officer for making it all possible.

P6 – week ending 15.3.13

After an extremely successful assembly last week where Primary 6 launched the school’s credit union, we have been giving out the application forms to the whole school this week. Application forms for the nursery to follow soon.

We have had about 20 applications returned so far and we are hoping for a WHOLE lot more next week. We are really pleased that everyone is serious about saving!

Interviews for the credit union volunteer posts are taking place next week so watch this space to find out who gets the jobs!

Next Tuesday, we have our class trip to New Lanark and we can’t wait! Look out for photos and reports next week.

Nursery Rhymes

The nursery’s topic is nursery rhymes. They are learning about words that sound the same (e.g. jelly and belly)and this helps develop ‘phonological awarness’.  We hope they will do well and work hard to learn words whichsound the same and have great fun learning about nursery rhymes. We are getting ready for Easter and we are planning some fun activities.
