A Quick Week

We finished up last week with a fantastic walk to our local forest with our very own forest ranger as a guide. We had a blast!

After enjoying a holiday Monday and an inservice Tuesday, we have launched straight into our learning.

We had a very special visitor this week. She was from the SPCA and she taught us all about how to protect wild animals. We thought it was fantastic! We were delighted when we were rewarded with a key ring, sticker and car transfer for our great behaviour.

We celebrated as a school community with a Mass for Ascension Thursday. We were told that our responses and singing were wonderful. Father Alan has asked us to make a huge effort to come to Mass on a Sunday and we are going to try our best to do this!!!

Primary 3 – Week ending 3.5.13

Another very busy and exciting week! We went on our class trip to Edinburgh Museum and we loved it, we visited the gift shop, had an Egyptian workshop and got to look all over the museum! We have also started our new class topic and this term we will be learning all about Scotland! Today has been very exciting as we have had a cake sale in school to raise funds for a very important cause! The cakes were delicious!

P.2 This weeks Learning Log

This week we started our new topic Under The Sea. We learned about the 5 oceans of the world and the zones under the sea. We enjoyed making clay fish which we are going to paint. If the children have any objects or books relating to the sea please encourage them to bring them in. We are excited about the bake sale today and thank any mum’s and dad’s who baked and we  are looking forward to eating  the delicious cakes. Have  a good holiday weekend and see you all back to school on Wednesday.

Well on our way…

We had our second credit union take place in school this week with Rebekah and Kane on hand to help with money collection and our PR Assistants doing a great job of advertising and collecting children from the classes.

We would still love EVEN MORE people to join! It is a great way to save!

Here are some facts and figures about the numbers joining from each class:

Nursery: 3
P1: 7
P2: 4
P3: 9
P4: 9
P5: 7
P6: 17
P7: 2
Teaching Staff: nearly all!

We are hoping that we will be able to make application forms available via the BLOG so keep your eye out. In the meantime, please contact P6 if you would like to join.

A reminder to P7 – it is still worth joining as you can continue this at St Kent’s!

Primary 3 – week ending 26th April

We have just finished our class assembly on Reconciliation! Everyone enjoyed it and we think that they learned something about this sacrament! We worked hard to prepare for this and we wanted to show the full school and our parents all our hard work! On another note, we are all excited about our school trip next week – we are going to Edinburgh museum to look at the Egyptian exhibit!

P6 – week ending 26.4.13

The P6 credit union workers were busy this week as our very FIRST EVER money collection took place. Dani and Sara were on shift to help out the ladies from the credit union and lots of children brought in money towards their savings.

We would love even more children to join the credit union – just ask in P6 for an application form.

We have started rounders and cricket in PE this term with Miss Stewart and we are all enjoying it.

We are looking forward to our class trip to New Lanark on Wednesday 8th May and we are practising hard for Bugsy Malone.

Giant Sunflower competition

Our school and nursery have entered a  competition to see who can grow the highest sunflower in West Lothian. Our giant Russian sunflowers have been looked after at Oatridge College and we will be receiving our plant next week.We need a few volunteers to look after our sunflower and help  to grow it as tall as we can.We also need to keep a diary with photos to show the growing progress and our sunflower needs to be measured each week. If you would like to be involved ask your teacher and see Mrs McIlwraith. If any class wishes to work alongside this competition and learn more about planting and growing there are lots of resources available on Glow.

Back to School

It has been a very busy couple of weeks for the Primary Five children! We have definitely hit the ground running! Not only have we lunched into our preparations for our up and coming school show ‘Bugsy Malone’ but we are also frantically preparing for our trip to school camp. 🙂 Amongst all of this learning, we have managed to fit in some compositions of forms of complex poetry, deepening our learning of analogue and digital time and creating abstract expressionism art amongst many other things. Well done Primary Five and keep it up!!!

P2 Weekly Learning Log

This week we have been learning about fractions in Maths. We are able to know what a half and quarter are and are able to find halves of numbers to 20.
