Primary 7 – w/e 5th June 2015

Last week, we went to St Kent’s for the Literacy Day where the focus was on Modern Languages.We started off with our presentation on Spain which included a quiz and we performed Spain’s national anthem ‘La Marcha Real’. We then split into groups and went into different classes to write postcards. Here is our quiz if you want to have a go…

We have been looking at Andy Warhol’s art and we chose a symbol related to the Scottish Parliament and we drew these in the style of Andy Warhol.

This week, we have writing different styles of poetry including haikus and limeracks. You can see some of our haikus in the picture below…

Next week, we are looking forward to going to St Kent’s on Tuesday and Wednesday for our transition days. Only 3 weeks left of primary school. Who can believe it?!

World Book Day

On Friday 6th Of March the whole school and nursery will attend an assembly to celebrate World Book day 2015.

All Pupils are invited to bring a copy of their favourite book to school and to dress up as their favourite character from that book. (Please note that the afternoon group in the nursery will celebrate this on Thursday 5th of March instead).

We look forward to celebrating the wonderful world of books with you all.

 

Happy New Year!

Primary 7 have been enjoying the new term and are enjoying having Miss Smart in the classroom.

In art we have  been learning how to draw portraits of Robert Burns, using sketching techniques. We will add colour by using pencil.

In maths we have been learning about negative numbers. We have been comparing and adding them on a number line.

This week we have been finishing off for the Christmas holidays;

We have lately been doing factors and prime numbers, we also made snowmen for the christmas fair last week and zentangle cards and all of primary 7 and 6’s have had their Christmas disco last  Tuesday and are looking forward to the Christmas holidays.

Jeans for Genes Day raises money for Genetic Disorders UK, the charity that aims to transform the lives of children with genetic disorders.

 Genetic disorders affect 1 in 25 children in the UK – that’s more than 30,000 babies born each year. Their associated health problems mean that genetic disorders are the biggest cause of death of children aged 14 and under.
