Primary 6 Class Trip

Mrs Traynor and Primary 6 were all disappointed today to learn that their class trip had to be postponed due to the forecast of extremely bad weather for Monday night and Tuesday.

However, we all agreed that safety must come first and we are looking forward to going on our trip after the Easter holidays. Given that Mrs Traynor is now practically snowed in, this was definitely the right decision!

Primary 6 are now hoping they can sledge tomorrow instead…

P6 – week ending 15.3.13

After an extremely successful assembly last week where Primary 6 launched the school’s credit union, we have been giving out the application forms to the whole school this week. Application forms for the nursery to follow soon.

We have had about 20 applications returned so far and we are hoping for a WHOLE lot more next week. We are really pleased that everyone is serious about saving!

Interviews for the credit union volunteer posts are taking place next week so watch this space to find out who gets the jobs!

Next Tuesday, we have our class trip to New Lanark and we can’t wait! Look out for photos and reports next week.

St John’s Credit Union (P6)

Primary 6 are moving rapidly ahead with preparations for the school’s very own credit union.

We will be telling the whole school and our parents how this works at our class assembly next Friday 8th March at 9am. All P6 parents and families are invited to attend.

Application forms have now been handed in for the jobs available and we are eagerly waiting to find out who has been selected for interview.

Application forms will be given to all children following this assembly and the credit union will start in school after the Easter holidays.

More information to follow!

P6 – week ending 1.3.13

We have had a really busy week!

We are sad to say goodbye to Eliza who is moving to Armadale and is leaving us to join St Anthony’s.

We were all amazed by the Human Calculator this week – his head works faster than we can work calculators!

Cricket was the sport of the week and we have a coach coming in to work with us over the next few weeks. We really enjoyed the first session.

Our class trip has been booked and we are heading to New Lanark on Tuesday 19th March. We are looking forward to seeing the cotton mills and how they used to work as we read a lot about this in our Desperate Journey topic.

P6 – w/e 22.2.13

This week our class attended a basketball festival at Whitburn Community Centre. We were split into 3 teams and competed again teams from other schools. We did really well and we did the school proud!

For money week, we have been looking at the Cost of Living. We made money week menus and worked out the cost. We also looked at needs and wants.

As part of money, primary 6 are also working with Blackburn & Seafield Credit Union to start a credit union in the school. At the moment, we are applying for jobs and we will be launching the credit union at our class assembly on the 8th March. P6 parents are invited to this.

P6 Forest School

In our second term, we went to Forest School every second Tuesday. Some of the activities we took part in were tree identification, knot tying, making the digestive system using natural sources and making tree masks from mud. Primary 6 loved Forest School but Mrs Traynor usually had very sore ears by the end of the day! Here are some of our photos:
