This week Primary Five have enjoyed all the opportunities that they have had to develop their cricket skills. We have had three coaching sessions led by sports leaders at the local community centre over the past three Tuesdays. We have practiced ourskills and played games of cricket with the rest of the class. On Thursday we attended the cricket festival at Whitburn Community centre. When we got there, we were placed in different teams mixed with pupils from four other schools. We participated in seven different stations which were led by sports leaders from the local high school. We had a fantastic time and learned so much. We would like to thank Mr Masters the sports development officer for making it all possible.

An Electrifying Week!
This week, Primary Five received a very interesting talk from a Powerwise employee. They learned:
- about conductors and insulators of electricity
- to stay away from cables and in particular, red wires
- to keep water away from electricity
- to make sure the socket switch is off before inserting a plug
- be aware of warning signs near electrical points
- keep an eye on younger children when using electricity
- playing with electricity is never a game!
Primary Five feel that they can make sure that their families and themselves are far more safe when using electricity. 🙂
Money and Finance Week in Primary 5
We have had a wonderful week learning about money and finance. Today we are celebrating our hard work by displaying money stalls in the hall for visitors to see. The class have made their very own cash machine and have had great fun using it. We have learned about money safety, credit unions and other financial institutions and how money is represented and accessed by creating our own bank statements. As you can see, we have been working extremely hard.

Primary Five Project
Primary Five are having fun studying the rainforest. They are learning where rainforest exist. They are also learning about the animals that live in this environment, the layers of the forest and the indigenous people there. Read this wonderful description of the Amazon rainforest written by a primary five pupil.
Enormous trees towering up to the sky, further than I can see. Swinging monkeys gliding from branch to branch. Intense delightful flowers everywhere. Marvellous monkeys howling ferociously are so loud I can’t hear myself think!
