{"id":20,"date":"2011-11-14T09:44:23","date_gmt":"2011-11-14T09:44:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/PolbethNurserySchoolBlog\/curriculum-information\/"},"modified":"2020-11-05T11:06:30","modified_gmt":"2020-11-05T11:06:30","slug":"curriculum-information","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/PolbethNurserySchoolBlog\/curriculum-information\/","title":{"rendered":"Curriculum Information"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To help us achieve our aims for learning we use Curriculum for Excellence, Pre-Birth to Three, GIRFEC, the Scottish Government \u2018Building the Ambition: Being Me\u2019 document and their self-evaluation guide \u201cHow Good is our Early Learning and Childcare\u201d. \u00a0We aim to ensure that every child should experience a broad education which develops skills for learning, for life and work, with a real focus on literacy and numeracy and promotes an active and healthy lifestyle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Briefly, there are eight main areas of learning:-<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Expressive Arts<\/li>\n<li>Literacy and English<\/li>\n<li>Technologies<\/li>\n<li>Religious and Moral Education<\/li>\n<li>Social Studies<\/li>\n<li>Health &amp; Well Being<\/li>\n<li>Science<\/li>\n<li>Numeracy and Mathematics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>We develop the four capacities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Successful Learners<\/li>\n<li>Confident Individuals<\/li>\n<li>Effective Contributors<\/li>\n<li>Responsible Citizens<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pre-Birth to Three identifies key principles of effective practice:<\/p>\n<p>Rights of the Child<br \/>\nRelationships<br \/>\nResponsive Care<br \/>\nRespect<br \/>\nThese principles support sensitive and well-informed approaches to this age group and beyond. The guidance is interpreted and adapted to suit each professional&#8217;s context.<\/p>\n<p>Children learn through play.\u00a0 They listen, observe, talk, explore, investigate and experiment in order to learn about the world \u2013 but above all it\u2019s FUN! We value outdoor learning and are outside in all weathers.<\/p>\n<p>The information board\u00a0in the\u00a0entrance area of the nursery keeps parents up to date with what we are focusing on learning at any particular moment. \u00a0We also have a learning wall in the nursery and online for you to see our learning evolving.<\/p>\n<p>There are also worksheets\/games to take home and complete with your child available in the entrance.
