Kirknewton Primary School

Primary 2

Primary 2 have been busy again this week.

In numeracy we have completed our favourite Gruffalo character pictogram and tally chart. We are practising forwards and backwards number sequences to 100.

In reading we have been reading detectives and looking for evidence in the illustrations and text. The children answer a question about the text and then have to find the proof. they have also  been learning to read instructions carefully.

In writing they have written and drawn about their favourite part of the Gruffalo story. They have also imagined that they are either the mouse or the Gruffalo and have made a postcard. I will send these home next week so you can see how well your children are doing. Copies will also be put up around school for the other pupils to see.

Outdoor learning has been making dens using tarpaulins. The children had to think about wind direction and keeping the rain off. Some of the children made a caravan den that moved !

In health and well being we made big hugs. The children had their friends draw around them. They then wrote down 3 or 4 talents they thought they had.

The children also drew the school and told me what made Kirknewton a happy , healthy and safe school. I will share their comments with you next week.

Have a lovely long weekend.

Regards

Miss Hocking
