P3 -7th May 2020– Today is a VE day Preparations day! There is a Garden Party on 8th May!

I have picked up a song which you can rehearse as a family and perform for the garden party.  Do you realise how the song was recorded in different parts of the world, just like what is happening a lot during this Social Distancing time, interesting!

On Friday , 8th May, the whole world, including the United Kingdom, that is Scotland ,Wales, Northern Ireland and Wales will be celebrating the VE Day 2020, the day when the 2nd World War was won and fighting stopped.  You will learn more about this war when you cover your 2nd Level Experiences and Outcomes, it a very interesting topic! People went to the streets to celebrate the end this terrible war, so on Friday everyone will remember that important victory and celebrate. Here is an explanation on what VE Day is, ‘VE Day takes place on 8th May, commemorating the same day back in 1945 when the war finally ceased. On that day, people from across the globe flocked to the streets for parties and get-togethers, enjoying their freedom for the first time in six years.’   I would like  you and your families to spend today- Thursday, 7th May, preparing for this celebration. It is a very important day. Here a poster with suggestions of what you could do, to take part in the VE day 2020, on Friday ,8th May, and a photo of some baking .

2020 May bank holiday will be moved to mark 75th anniversary of VE ...

No need to leave home as all the VE Day celebrations you need are ...

Here are suggested activities to prepare for the garden party:

2 ,Decide on what you will need for party, make use of what you have at home already, as we trying to limit going to the shops. Are you going to make a special celebration costume? If so ,use recycled materials.

3, Practice your  dance song.

4, Make bunting for decoration.

5. Are going to bake or cook something special for this celebration, get the ingredients ready!

6, Make a rainbow, here are all the instructions. You can practise making it today and then show it off tomorrow for the Street/Garden party. Adults at home will need to help you do this.
