We have had another busy week in Primary 1.

We began the week by learning about Guy Fawkes/Bonfire night.  We learned about firework safety and created some firework/bonfire crafts:

In numeracy we counted forward and backwards from different numbers to 10 and beyond. We also looked for missing numbers and explained how we knew a number was missing.

We continued to practice our subitizing and made dot patterns using cubes and counters.

We counted amounts to 10 and showed number using “bunny ears” and number fans

We also learned 2 new sounds h and r and practiced the correct formation of these. We added these to our sound boards and created words using all the sounds that we have learned.  We played “I spy” and practice our formation using “r” rainbows.

We continued to talk about who is in our “Back-up team”. We thought about how our class helps each other and wrote about how one classmate was special.  We played a game where we had to change one thing about ourselves when someone was not looking.  It was fun but tricky!

Finally, as we come to the end of our “All About Me” topic, we discussed what happened at the different stages of life – babies, children, teenager, adult and elderly. We have been particularly interested in babies and have enjoyed caring for the babies that arrived in our classroom.
