Over the course of the last two weeks in Primary 3, we have been looking at the Rights of the Child, with a particular focus on Friendship. One of the ways we have been exploring how to be a good friend has been to participate in some drama activities. The class were very excited to engage in drama and we had some excellent performances, both comic and tragic, in “Kirknewton Playhouse Theatre”, watch out Keira Knightley!
Using the BFG and his rather large ears as our inspiration for science, we started looking at sound; how we can make it and how we experience it. During our investigation, we discovered that there were many ways that we could use parts of our body and the environment around us to make sounds. Then we took our learning outside and created Sound Maps using the sounds that we heard which included crows, starlings, leaves rustling in the tree, aeroplanes and a goose!
In numeracy the children have been developing their use of a helpful technique for recognising the relationship between numbers, using a triangle to help them.
Parents and carers will be finding out more about this very soon, and being given the chance to try it out for themselves. Watch this space!
