Growth Mindset Assembly 1

We enjoyed our first whole school assembly yesterday (click above for slides) where we welcomed all the children back and introduced new members to the Kirknewton Community, look out for details in the August Newsletter.

It is important at the start of a school year to remind ourselves that we can do anything 🙂 Things can sometimes seem different at the start of the year, some things might be new or more challenging, but we can overcome these challenges.

The children were able to share with us  and learned that using a Growth Mindset means:

  • believing in yourself, using positive language
  • listening to feedback about how to improve
  • trying new things and challenges
  • practice makes perfect!
  • you making an effort
  • never giving up- bounce back and persist even when it’s tough

When we use a Growth Mindset we are helping our brain to get bigger, we are exercising it like a muscle.

In class and at home this week we are going to learn and use positive language to help us develop a Growth Mindset. We can also encourage others too.

  1. The assembly on Friday was great- very positive. It was lovely to hear how the children have been supporting and encouraging each other in their efforts.
