Our Junior Road Safety Officers are on a mission. They plan to teach road safety to our pupils by creating “Stop, look and listen,” scenarios in the playground. Many thanks to David Dickson and his parents for creating our “Stop” signs. They are greatly appreciated and will be well used.
Our younger pupils can further develop their knowledge of road safety in a fun way by visiting the go safe with Ziggy website. Gosafewithziggy.com/ziggys-big-day#GoSafeWithZiggy
Towards the end of term we will be turning our focus to the carpark area where we will be looking for everyone’s support in following our entry to the school rules to ensure safety for all. TEAM work. Together Everyone Achieves More!
Congratulations to David Dickson, Rebecca McMenemy, Cameron MacLachlan and Aaron Wadey who are our Junior Road Safety Officers this session. The team are extremely enthusiastic and have already attended their induction meeting at St Andrews Primary School in Howden on the 26th October. We have already met several times and are putting our action plan in place. Our first campaigns will be “Be Bright Be Seen!” and “Speed Down!”
The J.R.S.O. notice board can be found just opposite Mrs Kennedy’s office. Please look out for posters and information in and around the community in the coming weeks as Road Safety Week approaches on 20th-27thNovember 2017 . Of course staying safe isn’t a one week campaign and our work will be ongoing throughout the session.
The Officers will present information at assembly, visit classes, highlight useful resources and provide an important link with the Community.
Busy times ahead. Busy roads around. Remember Stay Safe! STOP, LOOK and LISTEN!
Well done to Ellie from P2 and Louise from P5/4 for winning our Be Bright Be Seen Competition.
Here are our winning entries. Both winners received a limited edition JRSO Frisbee, pencil, bookmark and, to keep them bright in the night, a dinosaur JRSO reflector!
Here are our winning entries and the JRSOs giving out the prizes at today’s Achievement Assembly!
This week has been Road Safety Week in Knightsridge Primary. Every class has been looking at being safe when crossing or near a road.
In P5 we have created zebra crossing posters which highlight the magic words – STOP, LOOK, LISTEN and THINK.
They have also been talking about being BRIGHT and being SEEN.
The JRSOs will be introducing a competition next week and will also be sharing information with pupils on Thursday. It is not to be missed as they will be doing some magic tricks!!
