| We’ve recently updated the Guide for SQA Co-ordinators 2014-15 to include some key dates for July and August next year. These dates, which include the 2015 certification date (4 August), were still to be confirmed when the guide was originally published at the beginning of June.

| Understanding Standards packs and events materials |
| Throughout session 2014-15, we are publishing a range of Understanding Standards materials to assist with developing understanding of the national standards that should be applied when assessing candidates’ work.
The packs are available from our secure website and teachers and lecturers can arrange access to them through their SQA Co-ordinator. They must be stored securely and treated as confidential. Events materials can be accessed through the updates and announcements section of our subject pages. Packs published this week:

National Qualifications 2015: External assessment – alternative venue
If a candidate needs to sit an external assessment at another venue that is not an approved centre (either within or outside Scotland), we need to know in advance in order to consider the request and to ensure that the appropriate examination stationery, question paper and invigilation arrangements are in place.
To seek approval for an alternative venue, please complete and submit an Alternative Venue Request form to the Assessment Arrangements team. The form and all guidance can be found in the Exam Support Documentation section on SQA’s website. Completed forms can be submitted electronically to alternative.venues@sqa.org.uk.
All requests for an alternative venue must be submitted by 13 March 2015. A written response will be sent to the SQA Co-ordinator and appointed Invigilator once a request is approved.

NQ Examinations: Transcripts (for contingency purposes) for Language Listening Exams
SQA accepts that the change to the transcript supply arrangement for the 2014 diet was inappropriate.
This has now been reviewed and taking on-board feedback from centres we will revert to issuing paper copies of the language transcripts to centres. These will be delivered with the main question paper, according to your exam requirements.
SQA has a tried and tested contingency arrangement for on-the-day supply of recordings should a CD be faulty. Transcripts should only be used in the case of complete equipment failure and require a fluent speaker of the language to read the given text to candidates
