Christmas sentence builder

Goodnight Santa by Michelle Robinson

The focus as we enjoy this book is to make up short  phrases to describe what we can see in the pictures using naming, describing and action words together e.g. the girl is pulling the big sledge, Santa is flying in the dark sky.

Row, Row, Row Your Boat

Row, row, row your boat,

Gently down the stream.

Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,

Life is but a dream!

JINGLE BELLS

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way;

Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh! Hey!

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way;

Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh!

You put your right hand up(wave), You put your right hand down.

You put your left hand up(wave), You put your left hand down.

Both hands up and down, roll them round and round.

Up and down and round and round and clap and touch the ground

S-A-N-T-A

I know a man with a bright red coat and Santa is his name oh

S-A-N-T-A   S-A-N-T-A   S-A-N-T-A

And Santa is his name oh

I know a man with a bright red coat and big black boots and Santa is his name oh

S-A-N-T-A   S-A-N-T-A   S-A-N-T-A

And Santa is his name oh

I know a man with a bright red coat and big black boots and a long white beard and Santa is his name oh

S-A-N-T-A   S-A-N-T-A   S-A-N-T-A

And Santa is his name oh

I know a man with a bright red coat and big black boots and a long white beard and a fluffy hat and Santa is his name oh

S-A-N-T-A   S-A-N-T-A   S-A-N-T-A

And Santa is his name oh

I know a man with a bright red coat and big black boots and a long white beard and a fluffy hat and a sack of toys(for the girls and boys) and Santa is his name oh

S-A-N-T-A   S-A-N-T-A   S-A-N-T-A

And Santa is his name oh

With the colder weather now here, the children have been curious to explore the ice out in the garden. This brought lots of discussions as to why the ice had appeared. Some children had fun using the paints to colour pieces of broken ice.

The children have been helping to look after the nursery environment by using warm soapy water to clean some of the nursery furniture.

The children have been keen to use the new writing station in the literacy area. Lots of fantastic fine motor and pencil control has been observed!

Scaredy Cat and Boo by Michael Broad

Boost words: creak  shiver  discover  giggle

I couldn’t find an online version of this story to share but it will be being read regularly in the playrooms. Try to use the boost words anyway, shiver is an easy one at the moment!

Here Is The Beehive

We usually say this as a rhyme at nursery but here are two singing versions. We hope you enjoy them.

The children have thoroughly enjoyed following origami instructions and diagrams to learn how to make various origami.

We have been collecting money to donate to children in need. Children and staff came to Nursery wearing pyjamas or spots.  The children enjoyed painting and decorating Pudsey and Blush.

This week we have observed some great role play between the children using the different animals in the garden. We have been discussing what types of animals we have out and where we would find them, at the zoo or the safari park.

In the garden the children have been showing good problem solving abilities as they explore different ways to use the coloured pipes to pour the water down. We also enjoyed opening up the rest of our pumpkins, using our different senses to touch and smell the inside of them.

We have been continuing to focus on our literacy and fine motor skills this week. Some of the children have been working hard identifying their own name card and practicing writing their names.

In the brick area we have observed some great team work and problem solving skills between the children as they built different structures using the guttering and the bricks.

Some great numeracy and mathematical development have been displayed whilst the children have been enjoying exploring the different games we have on the ipads . The children enjoyed navigating their way around the games and confidently following the instructions.

The children have been continuing to enjoy our daily walks into our local community and woodland area.

Comments Off on Christmas Nativity Practice

It is the time of year when we start to practice our Christmas Songs.  We will be doing a performance this year (date to be confirmed).

Attached are the songs we are practising with links to youtube.  It would be very helpful if you could practise these at home also.

Thank you

Jesus was born in a stable (sung to the tune See-Saw Marjory Daw)

See-saw, creep to the door,

Jesus was born in a stable

He is asleep snuggled down in the hay

We’re happy because it’s his birthday

Away In A Manger

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed

The little Lord Jesus lay down his sweet head.

The stars in the bright sky look down where he lay,

The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.

A Song of Shepherds [Sing a Song of Sixpence]

Sing a song of shepherds

Looking after sheep

Sing a song of shepherds

Woken from their sleep

Sing a song of shepherds

As angels filled the sky.

They sang a song of love and joy

For every girl and boy.

It is shining brightly over Bethlehem.

Rhyme Time and Story Time

Hey Diddle Diddle

Hey diddle, diddle,

The cat and the fiddle,

The cow jumped over the moon.

The little dog laughed,

To see such sport,

And the dish ran away with the spoon.
