It was lovely to welcome all the children back to the Nursery this week.  The children have settled back in well and it has been great to hear about all the fun they had during the holidays.

We have begun talking about the weather and the seasons and plan to learn more about what happens at this time of year in the next few weeks.  This will include the weather, hibernation and the properties of water.  We are also hoping for some snow so we can get outside to build snowmen.  We are also learning about the Chinese New Year which is approaching soon.

Comments Off on Snow much Fun!

The children at Ladywell Nursery were so excited to see the snow today and could not wait to go outside to play. We spoke about what clothes we would need to wear to keep us warm and dry. When the children were outside in the snow they made snow angels using their own bodies. Some children used sticks for mark-making while others enjoyed leaving footprints in the snow.

We used our floorbook to record the children’s interest and knowledge about what they know about winter.

Comments Off on Christmas Time!

What a fun and exciting month it has been with lots of festive activities going on throughout the nursery. Children have enjoyed decorating the Christmas tree and sharing their own experiences about Christmas. Some children were keen to share their own knowledge about Christmas in our floorbook demonstrating good mark-making skills and early emergent writing.

The children in Ladywell Nursery have been following the countdown to Christmas and were able to tell us how many sleeps there is to go before Christmas Day. The children have enjoyed a variety of Christmas activities within the nursery that has supported their number, literacy and creative skills.

We have enjoyed our Christmas lunch with our friends and practicing our nativity.

We have been enjoying daily walks, exploring our local woodland this week. The children have been discussing road safety and how we can keep ourselves safe when we are crossing the road.
