Here is the beehive, where are the bees?

Hidden away where nobody sees.

Finally, we have had some lovely sunshine.  The children in Inveralmond have been taking part in a variety of planting activities.  We have begun planting some seeds to try to create a wild garden in the outdoor area.  During this process, we have come across a variety of bugs which the children have been quite excited about.  We have been learning the names, counting the legs and comparing sizes.

The interest in bugs has been further developed indoors where we have begun discussing life cycles.

When they have these skills they’ll feel more confident and they’ll be happier.

But many children starting school all across the UK today are unable to do these things.

This week we have begun our visits to Harrysmuir Primary school to support with the children’s transition to Primary 1. The children have enjoyed a story and some free play to explore the Primary 1 classroom.

Following on from our visits at the school, some children have been role playing schools.

Throughout the week the children had the opportunity to make some decorations for the picnic we had to celebrate the King’s Coronation. There have been some great crowns, bunting and flags created!

Horsey Horsey

Can you hear the horses hooves go clippety clop in this short video? You might see horses like these taking part in the coronation procession through London.

Most of these horses are being ridden by soldiers but I can see some being ridden by police officers…can you spot them too?

We will be celebrating the coronation of King Charles at nursery throughout next week.

Children will have the opportunity to participate in various coronation themed activities such as making bunting, flags and crowns, helping to bake a celebration cake, marching to celebratory music and having a picnic on Thursday afternoon.

This week at Inveralmond Early Years we have been enjoying participating in games such as noughts and crosses and Jenga in the garden. Children have been displaying some great turn taking skills as they play co operatively with each other. We have also continued to explore our local community with trips to the local park and adventures in our local woodland.
