wise  old  little   poky  tiny  titchy  teeny  weeny  gigantic

Ladywell-Whatever Next by Jill Murphy

Week 2 describing words

smart  scruffy   boring   interesting  under  over

Our rhyme for this week is

Ten Little Fingers

I have ten little fingers they all belong to me

I can make them do things, wouldn’t you like to see?

I can make them shut tight and I can open them wide,

I can put them all together and I can make them hide.

I can make them jump high,

I can make them jump low,

I can fold them quietly and put them all just so.

The children at Inveralmond Early Years have been busy helping to prepare the vegetables to make soup for the children’s lunch. We have been discussing where our foods come from and what foods is good for our body  .

There has been lots of gross motor development being displayed in the garden such as jumping, balancing and running as the children have been using the joining blocks to create obstacles in the outdoor space. Lots of good team work and problem solving was also being observed as the children worked together to create their obstacles.

The snow has been very popular this week too with children making snow men and snowballs in the garden!

We have continued with farm animals as our topic this week and the children have been using the small world animals within their play. We have also been watching videos on YouTube about a day on the farm and what animals/ food you will find on the farm.

This week at Inveralmond Early Years the children have been exploring the outdoor environment and  discussing the changes in weather we have had. We have been busy creating and flying our own kites in the wind and we have been exploring the ice and snow, discussing what patterns we can see. Some children have enjoyed jumping in the muddy puddles and playing in the snow!

We have been discussing different types of animals and where they are from in the world, finding facts from books and maps. The children have been role playing with the small world and the different animals in the play room. The children have also been developing their mathematical skills by taking part and playing a variety of animal games including puzzles and bingo. Some children have been developing their literacy skills too, joining  in with games and using the laptop practicing their letters and words.
