This week at Inveralmond Early Years the children have been displaying some great turn taking skills in the garden using the guttering and other games such as ‘what’s the time Mr Wolf?’, skipping and hide and seek.

This week at Inveralmond Early Years the children have been displaying some great role play with shops and cafes. On one of our local walks we took a visit to Aldi to purchase some snack items.

Whilst out in our local community the children have also noticed seasonal changes in the environment, which has allowed lots of great discussions around spring time.

Comments Off on We are learning how to look after our teeth.

Today we had a visit from Tanny and Gizmo the dog from Child Smile. The children at Ladywell Nursery listened attentively as they learned about how to keep their teeth clean and healthy. Gizmo the dog was very brave as he allowed the children to brush his teeth. The children were asked lots of questions about looking after their teeth and eating healthy food. Children demonstrated good listening skills, answering questions appropriately and dealing with new situations and experiences. Well Done!

Comments Off on Recycling Activity

The children at Ladywell Nursery have been learning about ways to look after their environment. Through discussions and mark-making in the floor book. Children decided that they wanted to learn about recycling their rubbish. We watched videos on youtube about recycling centres and how they recycle plastic, glass, paper and garden waste. As an activity we decided to make our own blue, green, grey and brown bins and learn which items go in each bin. The children demonstrated good sorting skills and some good knowledge about how they recycle things at home.  When jax was finished recycling his rubbish, he pretended to be the bin man and made a bin lorry using a chair for the driving seat and placing a bucket behind him with the rubbish. Well Done!

Comments Off on Litter Picking in our Community

The children at Ladywell Nursery have been learning about the environment and ways we can recycle things. During the litter picking activity around the school and nursery, the children demonstrated good communication and turn taking skills.  The children worked well as a team and were amazed at how much rubbish they found. The children were asked how they felt after picking up all the rubbish? Their reply “It made me feel better, because now the school and nursery area is cleaner and we did a good job.”
