Inveralmond Early Years Centre and Ladywell Nursery School

We have had a fabulous week at Ladywell Nursery School.  The children received a visit from West Lothian Council waste services team where they carried out different activities with the children.  One activity was looking at bean bags with a picture e.g. toothpaste. The children had to decide what colour of bin it went in and then post it into the correct bin. The children were also developing their fine motor skills when using the grabber to pick up the rubbish and recycle it into the correct coloured bins.

The children have also been developing their fine motor skills further through threading beards to make jewellery. They were very proud to show them off afterwards and were excited to take them home.

They have been also been using construction to make models i.e. huge diamonds, space rockets and houses.  They have also enjoyed rolling cars down the wooden planks.

The children have shown a great interest and used their imagination to make a volcano from paper mache. We looked on the laptop to discover how volcanoes happen and spoke about how hot lava is.  Some children also role-played as a volcano eruption!

The children had a great time outside when they made kites after a child discovered that their jacket flapped in the wind just like a kite flapping in the air.  They flew their kite then they made their own kites in the art area where they were developing their fine motor skills and sharing their ideas.

Well done boys and girls!
