Inveralmond Early Years Centre and Ladywell Nursery School

This week at Inveralmond Early Years the children going to Harrymuirs Primary school in August have continued to enjoy visits for some playing time and a story in the classroom. In nursery the children have been discussing what healthy lunch they might take to school, drawing and sharing with staff what foods they may have. We have also focused on pencil control and lots of children have been recognizing and writing their own names.

We have been busy exploring the wider community in the local woodland where the children have been learning how to be safe when crossing or being beside a road. The children have been displaying a range of good gross motor skills when climbing the large tree trunks and jumping off. We have also observed lots of co ordination skills being displayed as the children balance and explore the woodland.

Some of the children have been enjoying preparing and baking snack. This week we have been making some yummy vegetable soup and also some delicious banana bread which the children enjoyed at snack time.

The children have shown a great interest in participating in board games, snakes and ladders being a popular choice. The children have been developing their turn taking skills and have also been focusing on number recognition and developing an understanding of being able to identify a small group of objects without counting.
