Story and Rhyme Time

Nursery Wordboost

The Selfish Crocodile by Faustin Charles

Boost words:

astonished   brave   creature   creep

Vocabulary development supports all aspects of literacy;reading, writing, talking and listening.

Support your child in developing their vocabulary through spotting the boost words as you listen to the story, discuss their meaning and then use the words as much as possible in different contexts e.g. creep around the garden and search for creatures under the stones. Tell them you are astonished when they do something brave!

Child friendly definitions:

brave-brave is doing something dangerous or scary even if you are scared.

creature-creatures are animals or insects, they can be real or pretend.

creep-creeping is moving slowly and quietly.

astonished-astonished is very surprised.

Rhyme time

Two different tunes, which one do you like best?
