August in Ladywell Nursery School
The children have had a busy week. They have been:
- exploring and discovering in the garden, experimenting with water flowing down the guttering, mixing mud and creating potions.
- finding plants that have scented leaves.
- Digging up potatoes that we grew in the garden. They were washed, cooked and offered as part of snack.
- engaging in role-play by playing at shops, Toys R Us and McDonalds, complete with customers and a “boss”!
- building structures using a range of different materials, blocks, magnetic shapes and lego.
As part of our focus on attention and listening you will notice staff increasingly using signs to support communication and language development. Signalong is a recognised signing system which several members of staff are currently being trained to use. Mary will be inviting children to participate in short, fun directed attention and listening games during nursery time from next week.
Please return your questionnaires for our exciting new story and rhyme groups. These will be fun sessions for a parent/carer with their child in which language will be explored through story, song and rhyme supported by puppets, music and props.
