Today we had a talk from the SSPCA.
Holly knew that the SSPCA helps animals.
We watched a video about a dog called Jack, who had not been looked after well. The SSPCA helped him feel better before he could be rehomed. Jack is now in his forever home being loved and looked after well.
We learned what animals need to be looked after well, including food, water and lots of attention and love.
We learned that if we see an animal in need we should ask an adult to call the SSPCA on 03000 999 999.
Paige knew that we should not try to help wild animals ourselves in case we get hurt. They might also pass on any diseases to us which might make us ill or we might pass onto our pets who might get ill.
We can do things to help wild animals. Siena knew that we could put bird seed in our garden to help the birds. We can put wet cat/dog food out for hedgehogs. We can put water bowls out – we need to make sure the water isn’t frozen.
Hedgehogs might be sleeping in our gardens in piles of leaves so we should be careful when clearing these away.
Maija-Storme knew that all of our rubbish should go in the bin. Plastic bags should be tied in a knot before we put them in the bin in case they do end up on the ground or in the sea.
We watched a video about wild animals. Two tawny owlets has fallen out of their nest and were rescued and looked after until they were old enough to fend for themselves.
