Today, P7 came to teach us all about debating.

We found out that we have to use persuasive language to get our points across and different phrases when we are debating. We learnt that we have to be polite rather than argue with the opposition.

We had 2  different debates.

We debated that the school day should be longer. This was in the news yesterday so we found it a relevant topic to debate and talk about. The “agree” team found it difficult to think of reasons why but did a fantastic job to try and persuade Miss Cooke to agree with them.

Our second debate was that jobs are paid what they are worth. We had lots of different points and opinions and felt that this debate could have gone on for a while.

Miss Cooke and Miss Wickerson were very proud with how we debated.

We are going to get together next week to continue to work on our debating skills.
