Please could the children take school reading books into school every day. We will issue new reading books weekly on a Monday.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/Carmondean\/files\/2020\/10\/p1-26th-Oct.pdf\">p1 26th Oct<\/a> \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/Carmondean\/files\/2020\/10\/P2-26th-Oct.pdf\">P2 26th Oct<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Topic<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We started our new topic which based on \u2018The owl who was afraid of the dark\u2019 by Jill Tomlinson.\u00a0\u00a0The children have been thinking about how we can use our play corner for our new topic. We are looking forward to turning it into something new where we can use our imaginations in play.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Maths<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In maths we were learning about 2D shape and the children loved identifying the shapes in our playground when we went on a shape hunt.\u00a0 The primary 2s have been focusing on using the appropriate language (vertices and edges) when describing the shapes and extended their learning to cover pentagons, hexagons and octagons. \u00a0Next week we will use our understanding of 2d shapes when learning about 3d objects. We\u2019ll be identifying 3d objects in our classroom and in the playground and will be making and describing 3d objects such as cones, cubes, spheres and cuboids.\u00a0 The P2s will be encouraged to describe the objects using the correct mathematical language \u2013 vertices, edges and faces.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Literacy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re going to be working on our listening skills this week with a few listening games and activities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reading:<\/strong>\u00a0 Thanks for all the support you are giving at home by reading with your child.\u00a0 We will be starting to look at the reading skill of prediction over the next couple of weeks so when reading anything at home it would be great if you could ask your child what they think will happen next and why.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Writing<\/strong>: We are going to be learning about the persuasive genre of writing and will use our new topic, \u2018The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark\u2019 as a stimulus for our writing.\u00a0 As well as learning about how to write persuasively, the primary 1s will continue to gain confidence at writing some of the letters they know and the primary 2s will be focusing on using capital letters and full stops in their writing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dates \/ important information<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Don\u2019t forget that Friday is our Halloween Dress Down Day and we will be having a little party in class with Halloween activities.<\/li>\n<li>Outdoor PE is still on Tuesday and Wednesday so please come dressed for PE on those days.<\/li>\n<li>Please remember a water bottle every day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We hope you have a great week!<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Muir and Mrs Steel.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi everyone, We hope you had a lovely October break.\u00a0 It was so lovely to see the children back in school last week.
