{"id":4658,"date":"2020-04-29T10:34:53","date_gmt":"2020-04-29T10:34:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/BoghallPS\/?p=4658"},"modified":"2020-04-29T10:34:53","modified_gmt":"2020-04-29T10:34:53","slug":"p1-p3-family-learning-activity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/BoghallPS\/2020\/04\/29\/p1-p3-family-learning-activity\/","title":{"rendered":"P1 &#8211; P3 Family Learning Activity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Good morning!<\/p>\n<p>I hope everyone is keeping safe and well \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><em>Rainforest in a Bottle<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This week&#8217;s Family Learning idea is to create a terrarium in your own home!\u00a0 I will add these instructions to your class Seesaw!\u00a0 Good luck!<\/p>\n<p>Miss Preston<\/p>\n<p><u>What you will need to create your terrarium:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>an empty, clean 2 litre bottle<\/li>\n<li>sharp scissors\/knife<\/li>\n<li>stones\/gravel<\/li>\n<li>soil<\/li>\n<li>some form of vegetation (i.e. moss, grass, daisy, leaves)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Watch this information clip before you start:\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9rEBbF6wnSw&amp;t=61s\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9rEBbF6wnSw&amp;t=61s<\/a><\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"92\">Step 1<\/td>\n<td width=\"359\"><strong><u>You will need an adult to help with this part.<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0 Mark your bottle approximately 1\/3 from the bottom. Using the sharp scissors\/knife ask your adult to cut around the bottle so you end up with 2 parts.<\/td>\n<td width=\"132\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"92\">Step 2<\/td>\n<td width=\"359\">From your garden or when you are out for your daily exercise collect some small pebbles or stones. These should then be placed in the base of the bottle.<\/td>\n<td width=\"132\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"92\">Step 3<\/td>\n<td width=\"359\">Collect some soil from your garden, a plant pot, the park and place it on top of the stones.\u00a0 The soil should be moist but not too wet.<\/td>\n<td width=\"132\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"92\">Step 4<\/td>\n<td width=\"359\">Pick some vegetation for example grass, moss, daisys etc.\u00a0 Place on top of the soil.\u00a0 No need to press it down or \u2018plant it\u2019.<\/td>\n<td width=\"132\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"92\">Step 5<\/td>\n<td width=\"359\">Now you need to make your terrarium air tight! This can be done using cellotape or by making four little slits around the top part of your bottle and placing it inside the base.<\/td>\n<td width=\"132\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"92\">Step 6<\/td>\n<td width=\"359\">Place your completed terrarium in a warm place that gets lots of sunlight for example on a window sill, conservatory.<\/td>\n<td width=\"132\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Keep a weekly record of any changes that happen within your terrarium.\u00a0 This could be in a table, as a cartoon strip with drawings, a photo timeline.\u00a0 Share your weekly updates via See Saw for your teacher to see.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Good morning!
