Well done to all of the children who entered our Easter Bonnet competition. We have never seen so many beautiful bonnets. The ladies from the kitchen had the very hard job of choosing a winner. Congratulations to Jace and Bella.
Happy Easter
Thank you to everyone who came to play ‘What’s in the Box?’ at nursery. The children really enjoy this activity and it is great to hear them using all their new words in their play.

The nursery team would like to thank all the parents and carers for their help and support over the last term and hope you all enjoy the holiday.
World Book Day and BookBug Launch
Thank you to everyone who attended our Book Bug Launch yesterday. We hope you all enjoyed the opportunity to read some new stories with your child and their friends, with a cup of hot chocolate and a snack. Â The children had a fabulous time and it highlighted just how much they love stories. Â We hope you are enjoying the Big Bedtime Read book bags and are discovering lots of new books together.
SNOW DAY 2
Today is World Book Day and we should all have been at nursery enjoying our book launch, with some stories, hot chocolate and croissants. Instead, why don’t you have your own launch at home? Cosy up with your favourite people and enjoy your favourite book. Have fun pretending to be your favourite character. Draw a picture or make your own book. You could even upload some pictures of your launch onto your Learners Journal, we would love to see your cosy story time.
West Lothian Council have confirmed that all schools and nurseries will be closed again tomorrow -Friday 2nd March. We hope to see you on Monday.
SNOW DAY ACTIVITIES
We hope the Nursery Closure hasn’t caused too much disruption to your day and that you are enjoying the snow.
We have a few activities for you to do with your child, both inside and out.
- build a snowman –Â can you think of words to describe how the snow feels? Can you see any shapes in your snowman?
- practice Boost Words –Â can you use any of your words to describe the snow?
- draw shapes in the snow – practice your squares, triangles, circles and rectangles. Can you make any new shapes?
- HAVE FUN AND ENJOY THE SNOWÂ
A Great Wee Burns Supper
Thank you to everyone who attended our nursery Burns Celebration. It was a great success and the children really enjoyed their Haggis, Tatties and Neeps.
The nursery will be focusing on the properties of 2d shape and will be encouraging the children to find shapes in their everyday environment. Â Parents and carers can help by looking for squares, triangles, circles and rectangles at home.
The children have also been interested in the Winter Olympics and we will be learning about different winter sports.
Box Clever contents will be focusing on the signs of spring and we hope to take the children on a spring walk – after the snow has cleared.
World Book Day is on Thursday 1st March and the nursery will be celebrating with a Book Launch. Parents and carers are invited to join us for stories, hot chocolate, croissants and toast at 10.30 (am session) and 14.30 (pm session). Children are allowed to come to nursery in their pyjamas
Welcome Back
Welcome back everyone. The children and staff have all returned from the Christmas break full of energy and ready to learn lots of new things.
The recent winter weather has given us lots of learning opportunities and the children have been exploring the properties of ice and the animals that live in icy places, such as the Arctic and Antarctic.
We have also been learning about patterns, and how to match and sort. At home, you could help extend this learning by talking about things that are the same e.g colours, shapes, toys.
Over the next few weeks, the nursery will be implementing a new language strategy called Word Boost. We will still be using our Box Clever sessions, as we all know how much the children love this. The recent box ” Going to the Shop” also included a visit to the local shop, giving the children the opportunity to use their new language in a practical way.  More details of the new scheme will be follow.
We would like to thank everyone who bought a Show and Tell item in from home. The children loved showing off their presents from Santa and it was great to hear them using their describing words.
Could we please remind parents and careers that the children do go outside in all weathers, and ask that they have appropriate outdoor footwear and clothing.
Merry Christmas
The children have been very busy over the past two weeks.
Their Christmas Singalong was a great success. They were all star performers and should be very proud of what they have achieved this term. The staff certainly are.
They had a great time visiting Eric the Elf and helping him to get the presents ready for Santa and they enjoyed their Christmas Lunch too.
The Christmas party was great fun and Santa was very impressed with our girls and boys.
The nursery staff would like to wish all the children, parents, carers and their families a very merry Christmas and thank everyone for their help with our festive activities.
We look forward to seeing you all next year. Nursery will reopen on Tuesday 9th January 2018.
