Nursery Photographs

Tomorrow is school photograph day.

I apologise for any confusion today. It appears that tomorrow’s photographs are the school ones and not the individuals. This is different from what it has been in previous years.

Remember to practice that smile in front of the mirror tonight!

A very special snack with P1…

Today the AM nursery were invited to a very special money week snack with the P1 class, Ms Fairnie and Mrs Gallagher.

The P1s had been working very hard to create sandwiches, cocktail sticks of sausages, cheese and pickled onions, and fancy iced biscuits.

The Nursery took their ‘pennies’ and P1 counted the correct amount for the purchases.

Thank you P1 for such a wonderful morning.

Money Week Open Day…

AM nursery:

Thank you to all the parents, grandparents and family that attended our Money week open morning in the Nursery. The children really enjoyed having you all here. Mrs Chalmer’s and I were delighted to see so many of  you and have a good chance to talk to you all about the work we have been doing on money this week.

PM Nursery:

Thank you to all the PM mums who came to join in our open afternoon. It was great to have you here, and the children all enjoyed sharing their learning with you. Thank you for giving up your time!

Nursery Money Week

After a very successful Book week last week, this week is Money week.

In the nursery we will be raising the children’s awareness of money and doing lots of money activities.

We have opened the Blackridge Nursery Shop, and the children are having lots of fun spending all their pennies. We have been exploring different ways to sort coins and notes and paying amounts in money play. We will add home learning ideas to the class blog shortly to get parents and carers involved.

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday AM and PM for our Money Week Open Day!

Book Week in 5…4….3….2…1….

Happy Thursday evening!

Next week the nursery is gearing up for book week. We will be doing lots of activities in the nursery and there will also be a book fair at the school. Next week is a busy week with parent teacher interviews on Thursday from 4-8. Make sure to check with your child’s key worker if you are unsure of the time.

For book week, would all children please bring in their favourite book. Nothing that is too precious to them, or would be missed during the week. We will be sharing these with the class during the week, and all children will be given the opportunity to talk about their book during group time next week. Miss Mitchell and Mrs Chalmers will keep the books safe at nursery and return them on Friday.

Happy weekend PM nursery, and we shall see the AM nursery in the morning!

Autumn is coming…

Today is our Autumn walk day and I don’t think that we could have asked for a nicer day. The Autumn sun is shining, and it is just a little bit cold!

The AM nursery ventured forth looking for signs of Autumn and were able to find lots. Berries have begun to grow on the trees, acorns have begun to fall, and there were lots of brown leaves to be collected for our display.

The PM class helped Miss Bonnes to celebrate her birthday when we went on our walk. The sun was shining, but there was still lots of Autumn signs to see. We played lots of colour parachute games, and collected lots of leaves for our display.

A lovely surprise….

A lovely surprise awaited us in the nursery garden this morning. The spiders had been very busy over night, and had created a wonderful display of webs around the garden fence. With the damp morning, we were able to see just how wonderful and detailed the webs were.

The AM nursery went out on a walk around the school to see all of the webs, and to spot all the different locations the spiders had been building their webs!

West Lothian Onsie Walk part two

Iron man, a crocodile, two tigers and a rainbow!

Another successful walk  in the rain this afternoon. Unfortunately the weather gods were not shining on us this afternoon, and the nursery ventured out on our second walk of the day!

The PM nursery had lots of fun playing in the rain, and singing lots of weather related songs, serenading the rest of the primary school as they worked.

Thank you to both AM and PM parents for bringing children dressed up today.

Remember: The nursery will be going out in ALL weathers! Remember to come dressed appropriately!
