My World Outdoors

Please take a look at the Care Inspectorate Document ‘My World Outdoors’. Through our ‘Mucky Monday Woodlands Walks we aim to  raise awareness and promote the ideology embedded within the document. We have a fantastic resources right on our doorstep – ‘Beechbrae’  and ‘Blowhorn Moss. Each week the children continue to build their confidence, in challenge and risky play, investigate and explore a little bit further and learn lots of new information about their local environment.  Not forgetting to mention the muddy puddles.

Mucky Monday Woodland Walk

The Nursery children participate in a ‘Mucky Monday Woodland Walk’ on most Mondays. Today was very muddy and there were lots of deep puddles to splash in. We found a large tree that had fallen down,  which was great for climbing on. We learned some road safety rules while walking down the side of the road on our way to Hillside park. The park had some great things to climb, swing and dangle from. The only thing that spoiled our day out was all the dogs dirt in and around the park. We had to wash our wellies in a big puddle on the way back to make sure we didn’t bring any back with us into the Nursery. If you wish to join us, or meet up with us on one of our walks we would love to see you. Please have a wee look at some of our photos from over the last few of months.

World Book Day 2019

For World Book Day the nursery children explored the story “The Gigantic Turnip” and made a fabulous collage to celebrate the story.

The children worked really hard and made characters from the story by drawing around each other and decorating paper plates to represent the farm animals who helped to pull the gigantic  turnip out.

I am sure you will agree that their collage is fantastic.

We would also like to thank all the parents and carers who joined us in the hall for our World Book Day Celebrations. You helped to make the event a fun and memorable experience for the children.

Please remember, you can share the stories you explore at home, or any other learning or accomplishments, on your child’s Learners Journal. We love to celebrate their achievements with you.
